Alissa Margulis

Alissa Margulis is appreciated for her “expressive and very emotional performances.” Born in Germany into a Russian musician family, she studied violin with Zakhar Bron in Cologne, Augustin Dumay in Brussels, and Pavel Vernikov in Vienna. She won multiple international competition prizes and received the “Pro Europa” award from the European Arts Foundation, presented by Daniel Barenboim.

Her performance venues include the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Tchaikovsky Hall Moscow, the Vienna Musikverein, and Tonhalle Zurich. She debuted publicly at age seven with the Budapest Soloists and has performed with major orchestras including the English Chamber Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic, and the Moscow Soloists.

She collaborates extensively in chamber music with artists such as Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, and Mischa Maisky. Her discography includes over a dozen CDs on EMI Classics, Oehms, and Novalis. Two “Martha Argerich and Friends” recordings received Grammy nominations, and several won Diapason d’Or awards.
