Konstantin Scherbakov

“One of the most capable, daring and interesting musicians of these days,” according to Austrian critic Peter Cossé, Konstantin Scherbakov ranks among internationally renowned pianists with a distinctive place in contemporary classical music. Once considered a “Superstar for insiders” by Die Welt, his creative output and contributions to the piano repertoire remain significant.

Scherbakov’s approach involves performing complete works by composers with whom he shares an artistic affinity. His discography exceeds 60 recordings, encompassing all original piano works by Beethoven, Godowsky, Shostakovich, Respighi, and Rachmaninoff. Notable projects include Beethoven’s 32 Sonatas, Godowsky’s complete oeuvre across 15 CDs, and all Rachmaninoff piano compositions.

He maintains an extensive concerto repertoire of 60 works, having performed with major orchestras under conductors including Christian Thielemann and Kirill Petrenko. Scherbakov studied under Lev Naumov in Moscow and won the 1983 Rachmaninoff competition there, following his European debut in 1990 at Asolo, Italy.
