Volume 2 – Echoes of Tomorrow explores Rachmaninoff’s decisive creative ascent between 1896 and 1903, tracing the moment where youthful intensity gives way to a fully formed, unmistakable voice. From the raw psychological contrasts of the Six Moments Musicaux to the vast architectural sweep of the Chopin Variations and the concentrated drama of the Op. 23 Preludes, these works reveal a composer testing the limits of pianistic expression while already pointing toward the monumental language of his later masterpieces.

Konstantin Scherbakov launches a landmark 4-volume cycle of Rachmaninoff’s complete original works for solo piano. Volume 1 focuses on the composer’s early output (1887–1894), from youthful student works such as the Four Pieces and Three Nocturnes to the celebrated Morceaux de fantaisie Op. 3 and Morceaux de salon Op. 10. Scherbakov’s authoritative artistry brings insight and cohesion to these rarely heard pieces, many of which foreshadow the mature voice of one of music’s greatest pianists and composers.
